ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

4.1. MASTER OF SCIENCE (MSc) IN INTERNAL MEDICINE

a. A degree in Medicine (MBBS, MBBCh, BDS or its equivalent) from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University or any other recognized university

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PhD) IN INTERNAL MEDICINE

The PhD programme shall have three (3) components

 4.2.1. MPhil/PhD PROGRAMME IN INTERNAL MEDICINE In accordance with the general requirements for admission into the MPhil/PhD degree programme by the university, candidates are expected to have:

a. A degree in Medicine (MBBS, MBBCh, BDS or its equivalent) from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University or any other recognized university.

b. MSc in Internal Medicine from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or any other recognized university with FCGPA ≤ 3.00.

 4.2.2. DOCTORATE PROGRAMME (PhD) IN INTERNAL MEDICINE In accordance with the general requirements for admission into the Doctorate (PhD) degree programme by the university, candidates are expected have (a) and (e) and any of (b)-(d):

a. A degree in Medicine (MBBS, MBBCh, BDS or its equivalent) from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University or any other recognized university.

b. MSc in Internal Medicine from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or any other recognized university with FCGPA >3.50.

c. The Part 1 Fellowship in Internal Medicine from the FMCP examination of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) or Primary FWACP exam of the West African College of Physicians (WACP) or its equivalent in Internal Medicine

d. The Part II (Final) Fellowship in Internal Medicine from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) or the West African College of Physicians (WACP) or its equivalent.

           4.2.3. EXECUTIVE DOCTORATE (PhD) BY RESEARCH IN INTERNAL MEDICINE:

 Executive PhD by research in Internal Medicine is for academic staff of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University who is a Professor or Reader with Full/Final Medical Fellowship (Part II) in Internal medicine. Such a candidate shall have:

a. Publications – A minimum of five (5) scientific publications in the respective area of specialization, with clearly identifiable or defined theme and focus, published in an indexed journal, visible online obtained within the preceding five years from the date of application. These must have been published in journals with a minimum impact factor of 1.0. These papers shall be work done in Nigeria.

b. Google scholar citation with minimum score of 300

c. Authorship – the candidate must be the first or corresponding author in at least two of the publications in (a) above. NB: All the provisions involving Professors/Readers with full Fellowship of the NPMCN or WACP or its equivalent shall apply only to those who are Professors/Readers as at the 2022/2023 academic.

d. The college will cease to award this degree five years from inception (2022/2023 academic session.
